Installation

Can OrthoView be deployed so that it can be used at home?
OrthoView now comes in three distinct editions each with different possibilities for intranet and home access.

OrthoView Enterprise is supplied by leading PACS vendors as an integrated option with their systems. Please consult your PACS vendors for details of home access.

OrthoView Workstation is available directly from OrthoView. If you have access at home to your hospital PACS network (via VPN for example) then OrthoView Workstation will allow you to query and retrieve images; complete a plan; and finally send templated images and a report back to the PACS. If you do not have remote access, an alternative is to connect your laptop to the PACS network while at the hospital to download images which are stored on the laptop. Planning can then be done at home. Templated images and reports are stored for transfer to the PACS the next time you are in the hospital.

OrthoView Server is available from OrthoView in selected territories. The server is installed in the hospital and connects to the PACS via DICOM. Client PCs wishing to use OrthoView connect to the server to both load the application and retrieve images. As the client-server connection is via web technology a client PC may be situated anywhere that has network access to the server.

Will OrthoView run on Microsoft Vista?
Yes, the latest version of OrthoView (version 5.0) - Workstation and Server Edition - will run on Microsoft Vista.

Can OrthoView be installed on an Apple Mac and a PC?
OrthoView is compatible with Microsoft Windows versions from 2000 through to Vista, although only in 32 bit operating systems. OrthoView does not currently support the Apple Mac operating system or environment.

Is there a 'help' facility?
OrthoView has comprehensive on-line help files, accessed by pressing F1 on the keypad, and a 'Quick Start Guide', which guides you through the system, is supplied with each installation or can be downloaded from www.myorthoview.com. If you have any queries that you cannot find answers to, these can be addressed to your PACS supplier or email: support@orthoview.com

Digital Templates

Which templates are available?
OrthoView works with all the major orthopaedic implant manufacturers, using their data and clinical guidelines to create the digital templates. We currently have over 20,000 approved templates. Prior to the installation of OrthoView, you will have the opportunity to register the particular templates that you will require and we will then endeavour to make sure that they are available for you.

Are the templates free?
OrthoView digital templates are provided and updated free of charge as part of your support contract.

How do I get the templates I need?
Prior to installation of OrthoView, you will have the opportunity to register at www.myorthoview.com and request in advance, those particular templates that you will be needing. When the software has been installed and licensed, the templates can then be downloaded from our website.

How are the templates kept up to date?
OrthoView digital templates have a 12 month 'life'. At the end of this period, the software notifies you that the template has expired and a replacement template can be simply downloaded from our website. We also keep records of which templates are held by each organisation and we will notify you of any product changes.

For those customers who have purchased OrthoView Server with VPN remote support, we will manage and update templates for you.

How long after the launch of a new implant is the template available?
We should receive information from the manufacturers in advance of new or modified products being released. Our aim is always to process this information as quickly as possible.

Which procedures are templates available for?
OrthoView enables planning and templating for all joint replacements, trauma and limb deformity correction procedures.

Scaling in OrthoView

Can I scale the image for more accurate planning and templating?
Yes, scaling of the X-ray image within OrthoView, if a radiographic marker has been used, is quick and easy by using QuickScale, one-click scaling. This automatically detects the edges of the marker and uses a default measurement to calibrate the image. QuickScale can be used with a spherical or disc shaped marker.

If no marker is available, an estimated oversize can be entered. For more information, see Scaling images in OrthoView

Do I need to use a radiographic marker?
To acheive the greatest accuracy, a radiographic marker should be used. Any radio-opaque object in the shape of a disc or sphere of a known physical size may be used and should be placed in the plane of interest. There are a number of commercially available markers. For more information, see Scaling images in OrthoView

Saving OrthoView

Can I save my work back to PACS?
Whichever edition of OrthoView is being used, if it is connected to PACS, the templated image and report can be saved back to the PACS.

OrthoView Enterprise is fully integrated into the PACS system so that when data is saved by OrthoView, it is automatically saved into the PACS. Some PACS systems allow the templated images to be displayed within them, while others require OrthoView to be relaunched in order to view saved results. If you are using OrthoView Enterprise, your PACS supplier can advise on your specific installation.
